What is Forj?
A repair tape that turns into a solid part
Forj is a high-strength, lightweight thermoplastic tape-ribbon that fuses to itself in seconds. Heat it, wrap or shape it, and let it cool. It hardens into a bond as strong as steel. Repair tools, make custom grips, fix sports gear, or replace a broken link or rivet.
It’s a true composite: an ultra-high-strength thermoplastic fiber held in a low-temperature thermoplastic matrix. You get the strength of the fiber and the formability of the plastic.

How it works

1. Heat
Warm Forj to about 140°F (60°C) with hot water, a hair dryer or a heat gun. Keep it under 190°F (88°C) and avoid open flame.

2. Shape
When Forj turns clear, it’s ready. Wrap, press or mold it, and it sticks to itself. As it cools it turns white again.

3. Fix
Let it set for a few minutes. Once cool, the layers have fused into one solid piece with a bond as strong as steel.
Reheat and repeat. Need to adjust it? Heat Forj again and reshape it. It can be reheated and reformed several times.
Why Forj

Strong as steel
A single strand holds over 1,000 lbs of tensile force. Layer two strands for about double.

Lightweight
100 feet of Forj weighs less than a pound.

Compact
The pocket-size tin fits in a backpack, glove box, tackle box or kitchen drawer.

Moisture resistant
Forj doesn’t absorb moisture, so repairs stay waterproof.

Moldable
Shape it into grips, handles, rivets, harnesses or patches. Anything you can wrap or press.

Paintable
Paint over a finished repair to match any color.

Great in the cold
The bond actually gets stronger as the temperature drops.
Lasts for decades
Made with 100-year fiber and resin. Stored in its tin, Forj doesn’t expire.
What will you fix?
Tools, outdoor gear, boats, around the house, even first aid.

Forj vs. other repair tapes
Lighter, stronger and more durable than the big-name tapes and repair wraps.

Common questions
What heat sources can I use?
Almost anything that reaches 140°F: hot water, a hair dryer, a heat gun, an oven or a microwave. Avoid open flame, and never heat Forj above 190°F (88°C): its strength fibers will be permanently damaged, and it can cause severe burns.
Will a repair melt in the sun or a hot car?
Forj softens near 140°F, so keep finished repairs away from sustained heat at or above that temperature.
Can I reuse it?
Yes. Reheat it, reshape it and let it cool. Forj can be reformed several times.
How strong is it?
Forj is rated at a 1,000 lb breaking strength for a 22 mm width. The ribbon is 1 in (25 mm) wide, so a single strand is a bit stronger than its rating. Two layered strands hold roughly double. For working loads, stay under 25% of breaking strength (250 lbs), or 10% (100 lbs) where there’s a risk to life, property or the environment.
When will my order ship?
Orders placed before 9:45am ET on a weekday print that day and ship the next business day. See Shipping & Returns for details.
